Clicker

I was so excited after my first riding lesson that I couldn't remember my horse's name. I asked my Dad so many times that he finally wrote it down for me. Clicker.

Owning Luke was undoubtedly one of the best and most exciting experiences of my life. And I find myself clinging desperately to the memories. From the feeling of flying over an oxer to his gentle nip asking for more treats.

Riding now is bittersweet. It is still gratifying certainly, feeling the muscles creak back to life and worrying about nothing other than what is happening in that exact moment in time.
But I've had a taste of a true bond and partnership between horse and rider and it's hard not to dwell in the past.
And the memories keep getting dimmer.
