1. They are very large. Quite intimidating actually.
2. They dive right into the water to catch their fish suppers.
3. Pelicans have very good eyesight to see fish while they are in flight.
4. They make a splash when they dive. I may have gotten splashed.
5. The fish is caught in their throat pouch. Before they can swallow they must drain their pouch of water.
6. Once the fish is in the throat pouch, you can see it flopping around while the Pelican drains the water. It looks slightly like a fishing net and is a bit disturbing.
